Some interview subjects speak in soundbites and long considered pauses, That's boring. Steve Van Doren, son of Paul Van Doren, the founder of Vans, and a passionate advocate for the brand as both a fan and mind behind its rise to dominance without compromising credibility, can talk and talk, with anecdotes and facts aplenty. So much so, that our dictaphone broke mid-conversation as we tried to bridge the gaps between established company histories.
interview with STEVE VAN DOREN As if it were some unlucky representation of Vans' lo-fi successes against the reign of the tech, during our conversation with Steve Van Doren, our dictaphone opted out roughly eleven minutes before the conversation officially ended. Where most conversations would fizzle into pleasantries and smalltalk after an hour and ten minutes, Steve was still dropping anecdotal gems - the perfect interview subject, hispassion for Vans and pride in its current position on the footwear pantheon is perpetual. His energy is enviable, and for taking the time out of a family holiday to sit down and nerd-out with us left us humbled and enlightened. interview with STEVE VAN DOREN interview with STEVE VAN DOREN interview with STEVE VAN DOREN interview with STEVE VAN DOREN interview with STEVE VAN DOREN interview with STEVE VAN DOREN interview with STEVE VAN DOREN interview with STEVE VAN DOREN
