“T-Master for re-issue, lets start the campaign”
Saw an article that Benetton is re-issuing some of there classic items for a vintage range.

It did not mention what stuff and when its out.

Would be good if they re-issued the Benetton rugby Shirts and the polo shirts with the logo on them.

Anyone seen anything out yet???

I'd kill for one of the old duffle bags, there's a couple of the old rugby shirts on the bay at the mo but the sizing was a bit different in the 80's so it's a gamble if anything will fit or not

i remember a kid at school going on one day about how Ben Elton was making clothes now. He was absolutely convinced even though we were saying it couldn't be true (especially as he dresses s**t). We bumped into him in town once and he pointed to the Benetton shop and said "there look, i told you". Pillock.

My fave ever was a mint green sweater with the tiny logo on the chest, I used to wear with a cashmere Burberry scarf & Chipie 'Joker' jeans, circa 1987. I adored that sweater!!!

Ahh! the Memories.

I've got an old battered one up the loft, the green plastic ones that cost about a tenner or something, cheap anyhoo.

Memories.............I got my sister to get the 'classic' blue Bene' rugby shirt from Bristol were she was at Uni. Brum branch didn't stock them at the time! One up-manship 'par excellence'.

Pink Bene' lambswool sweater, pink bene' shirt with feint black stripe, Navy blue Farah, Beige Burberry Golfer and Gazelle - My main football uniform of '85!!!

What type of splits, Dan?

'Audi Quattro mud flaps' at the hem, or split as in stitching coming undone at the seams?

I didn't split 'mudflap' my Farahs, they had to double up as 'going out' trousers with my parents.

Everyone used to buy them from Fred Smith on Lye Cross. (This will only have relevance to Dan, i'm afraid) purveyor of all things Farah, Gabbicci, Pierre Sangan used to sell deerstalker hats too!!!

I remeber some of the sweatshirts being plain apart from a small stiched pin badge size 'Benetton' emblem? I could do justice to one of those these days. (If they're proper 'mon' sized and not 'bits of kids' sizing. e.g Lyle and Scott.)

I had a few of the roundneck jumpers with the small emblem on the left chest, I'd wear them now, no dramas!

Fond memories - non-uniform day at school (Late 80's) wore a bright orange Benetton sweater to school,
and the girl I had a crush on said she loved it, and asked if she could have it. Maybe I should've given it to her ?? LOL - Saw her on the train in the way into Leeds last time I was in England (About 2 yrs ago) and to be brutally honest she hadn't aged very well.

Went to the Benetton store in Miami recently and the sizing was very odd. A pair of cords in my usual size were way too tight, yet I'd go a size up and they were so baggy you could've fit 4 legs in there!

I'm a M-L in Lacoste and RalphL polos but their XL polos were way too skinny.

I had the blue/white and green/white rugby shirts, vague memories of the duffle bags too.

Remember lambswool L&S and Pringle, fred perry polo underneath.

Loved charcoal grey farahs, and the blue/grey colour ones.

Lee semi flares, with leather belt tab unstitched and then re-stitched onto the flare, finished off with some ZX (most mates in Omega Flames).

Ahhhhhhhhh the 80's really rocked when you think back.

NOTE- Apologies for cam phone pic. My school bag circa 84/85 (ditched my Head bag in favour of it). How ever much it was, it would have been and .90p. Everything in Bene. was .90?

Everybody had that bag in my school. And the girls would also have the little scarfs they did and use them to tie their ponytails up. But it was done in a way so that you could see the Benetton label sticking out.

Jokes.

Also how you wore it. Like AA said about Lee patches on the bottom of your jeans. A common look at the time, but you just wouldn't normally think of doing it.

An abiding memory of mine is a Blues/Albion game at the Baggies albeit in Nov/Dec time. And seeing a group of Blues 'Lads' walking up from Rolfe St. Station about 15/20 all wearing runners/gazelle type shoes, crew neck sweats/jumpers and............ full bibbed ski salopettes with the small football/globe Blues badge in the middle of the bib!!

Remebering this was the mid-eighties, this should have looked absolutely ridiculous. But infact it looked absolute crystaline GENIUS. They looked the 'dogs' swaggering up the road. And that sight there and then was the encapsulation of 'football casual' to me.

My favourite Benetton from back in the day was the blue and white nautical stripe, with the gold 'Benetton' lettering in the middle of the chest, also remember it kicking off a million imitations.
