lot of fights coming up i guess so i thought i would start a thread, did a qucik search nowt turned up so mod feel free to lock.

a bit of fall out from the khan fight

http://www.skysports.com/skysports/article/0,,12-1275389,00.html

i kinda see his point khan was MIA after the knock down i thought the ref was gonna call it. but more a case of sour grapes me thinks

any way

Bernard "B-Hop" Hopkins vs Winky Wright is soon. i cant call it if i had to i reckon Winky will win.

heres some build up

Two of boxing's top five pound-for-pound fighters square off on Saturday night in Las Vegas. Bernard Hopkins and Winky Wright are two of the most talented all-around fighters of this generation. Their counter-punching styles and defensive skills make it almost impossible to look good against them ... which - as a fight fan - is not a good thing. From a purist's standpoint, this fight may be a classic. However, from an entertainment standpoint ... well, let's just say there's a reason this fight has relatively little buzz and no one's anticipating a fight of the year type of bout.
After back-to-back controversial decision losses to Jermain Taylor, it looked as if Hopkins was done. However, Hopkins - now 42 - bounced back with a dominating performance over light heavyweight champ Antonio Tarver last June. It's been 13 months since that win so there's always the chance that age finally catches up with Hopkins ... but don't count on it.

With the bout being held at a catch weight of 170 pounds, 35-year old Winky Wright (51-3-1) will be competing at a heavier weight than ever before. Wright's best days were at 154 but he also looked comfortable at middleweight over his last four bouts. It's possible that an additional ten pounds could be a problem for Wright ... but don't count on it.

he has a point - i thought he'd won and the ref took too long!!! happens a lot in boxing esp. for crowd favourites like Khan... not so much sour grapes i reckon but more that he's pissed off he didn't finish the job!

performance of a lifetime on itv4 from gavin reece, just went 12 rounds against a world champion who was a lot bigger and by far the favourite, and the welsh underdog has just got himself a world title , from the bigger man who was c***y in the early rounds , well done reece, brilliant !!

enzo macrinelli is fighting a very big hitter wayne `big truck` braithwaite next over in itv at 10, dont miss that one, should be a cracker !

carl thompson was my favourite cruiserweight, had some good nights in the pub watching his fights in the 90s

did anyone see him knock out sebastiaan rothmann a few years ago, when he was about 40 odd or something , that rothmann was a giant and smashed him all round the ring , and he sparked him out in a late round, brilliant that was

EDIT - just found it on youtube, awsome !!!! talk about david v goliath, i dont think ive ever seen a better against all the odds knock out in my life, ledgend

an enjoyable fight and both fighters had a good go, although braithwaite didnt quite have as much as enzo, neither fighter tried to hide, and fair play to the fella for being the 1st to congratulate enzo and lifting him up

good stuff !

Dirty fighting from B-Hop, but he obviously had it won. If I was Winky I would be pissed off that I got cut because of a headbutt, and that was something he hadn't experienced in a fight before.

Really want to watch it, but I'll probably fall asleep by the time the main event comes on. So do I order it and make sure I avoid the news and internet before watching a replay on Sunday morning?

Go on Ricky, smash his face in

Said it before, never wanted someone to win more.

I truly believe Hatton wants this way more than Mayweather and is prepared to go much further to get it as well. That 24/7 build up programme is a good watch.

I heard this morning that rumours are spreading that Mayweather is carrying a hand injury. It wouldn't surprise me if that is bull s**t straight out of the camp and is there as an excuse mechanism if he loses.

its gonna be spectacular !! with all the mouth flloyd has got, i just prat hatton smashes the living f**k out of him, once again the yanks have hatton as the underdog and all expect a mayweatehr victory..have them stupid f**ks not learnt anything from hattons past exploits !! hes done it before and hes gonna do it again

not sure about an actual injury as such right now to the hands as he would pull out im sure, but its well known his hands are just suspect anyway long term, he has dodgy hands , hes quick but he hasnt got the power to take out the hitman, ricky has shown he can take punches and have a proper proper tear up and come out the other side victorious, i love the pictures of the hitman in the ricky fatton t shirts ....pure brilliance !!!!!

also amir khan vs greyham earl is on, thats gonna be a great fight too, we all know about khaan but earls a handy customer aswell

all in all boxings been on the up over the last 18 months or so, i hope the hitman just destroys that jive a*s punk to rule the world , just like this.....

also....this will surely be on sopcast etc for free !!!

or just get together witha few mates and chip in a few quid each, £15 to watch that if the hitman tears him apart will be a small price to pay for what could be one of the best fights in years and years !

-Pound for pound greatest boxer atm.
-Five time world champion over different weight classes
-Unbeaten against PROVEN fighters (Castillo, Hoya, Judah, Gatti, Vargas, Corrales RIP)
-Unmatched handspeed (look to the Zab fight)
-Excellent stamina

HONESTLY, take away his loud mouth and he would be muched more loved. But just because he has a huge ego do not let that blind you into thinking that he isn't p4p the best atm or shouldn't be placed as the favourite.

I still have Ricky for the win (inc a £10 stake), but I still respect Mayweather's skills, history and dominance in the boxing world. He is an amazing fighter with a huge ego which was founded due to his career

no ones saying hes not got class or pedigree and isnt a great boxer, it takes 2 great boxers to make a great fight !!!

his records not as good as hattons tho, hattons never ducked anyone and took on all commers and gone to anyones back yard, hes had more fights, knocked out more fighters that mayweather, and hes gone in to fights with no chance from the yanks, and proved his true world class !

wel see if whos the best pound for pound figher come sunday morning !!!

stealing content from the BBC agian....

''Ricky Hatton had to be pulled apart from Floyd Mayweather in a post-press conference melee in Las Vegas.

"There's a time to laugh and joke and be my usual sarcastic self but the fight's two days away now and I've done my laughing and joking," said Hatton.

"When I leaned on him he said, 'don't touch me'. I gave him a 'you're dead' gesture then I smiled. If he's annoyed at that wait till the bell rings."

true but some argue that he never beat those men when they were in there prime eg hoya was basit by about 2 - 5 years some people say.

hatton will win via KO between the 6-8th if not pretty boy will see it out on points.

I'm playing a poker game round a mate's house first. While that's going on til the early hours we're taping the Khan fight, and watching that when the game ends, which should hopefully lead nicely onto the Big Fight at around 4am I understand. With a bit of luck this should stop us all falling asleep!

I'm hoping Hatton wins, as after seeing Mayweather on MTV Cribs it's clear he actually is a knob. However, his record is amazing, and I'm picking him to win on points.

I didn't see all of that last press conference, just an edit, but I thought that Mayweather appeared a bit quiet (for him) and possibly, just a tad uncomfortable (nervous?).
