After a long and traditional rain delay Wimbledon 2007 finally got underway.

Predictions, comments and any gratuitous pics of fit women tennis players are welcomed.

My predictions:

Mens Singles: Roger Federer
Womens Singles: Justine Henin

Anyone going this year?

Federer all day long.

Tim will be out on day one, Moya will turn him over easily.

really hope that Justine Henin doesnt win. She has to be the most boring person alive. She even gives Tim Henman a run for his money.

I might try and get there at the weekend - haven't been for a few years.

I reckon Federer for the mens, and possibly Henin or Sharapova for the womens.

I'd like to see Federer do it to equal Borg's record, and I'd like to see Henin or Sharapova do it because I don't like watching beefy, muscular women playing tennis.

Personally I wouldn't call Henman a loser though, considering the titles he has won (not to mention nearly $12million in prize money alone).

I hate the fact that mens tennis is boring as f**k. A-Rod and Nadal are a saving grace as at least they make it interesting as they get spanked by Fed.

BORING.

No2 son says there is no greater sight in tennis than seeing Federer rinse it up.

I agree I think Pete would serve him.

Pete was a robot. Fed is clinical but Pete was untouchable when he was on his game.

Federa is boring boring boring. No tantrums no strops no wild play.

I hate some madness in my superstars. Its why I didnt like pete that much.

I was lucky enough to see Agassi on Centre Court a few years ago, and I swear I have never seen anything like it. Taylor Dent was booming 140mph serves at him and his returns were just incredible. Pure natural talent that just can't be taught.

Hope to get a chance to see Fed play though, I think he might have been forged from similar furnaces...

i dont like Federer or Sampras that much. Too boring. Someone like Nadal or Murry or Roddick who actually have some life in them are much more exciting to watch.

I do agree that both Sampras and Federer are/were fantastic players but their style of play is a bit too "textbook" to watch all the time.

Are you mad? Federer owns Sampras, Fed is worlds better on clay than Pete for a start and his has far more shots in his repetoire.

Don't get me wrong Pete was great but he was no Federer.

Completely disagree having watched at least 15 tournaments this year alone, the huge problem is the WOMENS game. Federer vs Safin AO or Federer vs Nadal in Rome 2006 was some of the best matches in the last 2 decades...

For the record...Pistol Pete was the sh*t. All this need for rock & roll celebrities, sports stars doing 'contreversial' things etc is boring. I rather someone who conducted themselves with class,
mastered their craft and actually got results be legends....results not tabloid press is what counts

dark horses of the tounament....

mens: Safin (if he doesnt get angry), Hewitt
women: Ivanovich, Vaidasova, Serena Williams

^shes not at all on top form but on grass shes dangerous. A penetrating serve and hard flat groundstrokes means she can trouble almost everyone on her day. Her problems are fitness, mobilty and lack of a top net game which means she's in trouble against a Henin or a Mauresmo, who both move much better and use slice and topspin to move players around...

But anyone who can walk into the Australian Open (another fast surface) with little practice and destroy everyone else (Sharapova included) cant be discounted, shes one of the wild cards to watch out for...

I hear you, sure. But I guess not everyone can be the same, there are the loud ones, the racket smashers and there are the quiet ones and the introverted. One thing to note though that throughout the history of the modern era its always the quieter ones that get on with it and play their game without distraction that always surpass the egomaniacs...

Borg > Connors & MacEnroe
Lendl > Edberg (slightly debateble but look at the results)
Sampras > Agassi
Federer > Nadal and everyone else

Dont get me started on Sampras vs Federer, i have my own view on that one. They did play against each other at Wimbledon once in a 5 set thriller...guess who won

i agree i was court covering at Wimbledon a couple of years ago and Henin came onto the court i was on, she was just a really nice, self-affacing girl - she even thanked me for uncovering the courts for her! It's not that she's not charismatic ( but OK, don't get me wrong, she's no Mcenroe) she just handles herself in a particular way to get the job done...gwan Henin!

A few years back, when they were only just getting known, I was walking along the main concourse outside Centre Court and the pair of them came running through, barged me out the way and nearly sent me flying. No apology or anything. In fact, they didn't even acknowledge the fact that they'd almost sent a 5'5" skinny chap into an early grave. I f*cking hate them, the b*tches.

Got my own back though...
