Since the revamp - One of the fundamental threads of this 'community' has been relatively cast aside, and that is 'Today I am' (TIA)

I don't know whose idea it was to remove it from the general forum, but I for one think it was a bad move.

I've gone from checking it religiously to not at all, and I know I'm not alone.

TIA used to be one of the main talking points, & at times the source of hilarious banter. Tiger Shoes anyone? (Joke)

Most of us who've been here for a long time would post their TIA, if not daily, then at least weekly, & it would always be my first port of call, along with 'Last buy'. It would also be a good starting point/introduction of new CT'ers to show off their footwear.

So really what I'm asking is:

Yep i too forgot about TIA for a while when it wasnt as obvious as it used to be, i have started checking it regularly more often now though, having it posted as a sticky reminds users to check it more often as someone posts new pics and knocks the sticky to the top of the pile, good idea.

Totally agree Tanith, I rarely ever look in TIA now let alone post. Sticky back at top of general is way to go. Could also have another TIA day to kick it all off.

In defence of the new TIA, you do get a lot more new members posting now. Unfortunately this is negated by the regulars not posting in TIA anymore.

I think there's a case for having it as a sticky in the forum general section plus keep it on the Community front page too.

I've never been much of a poster in TIA, but I did used to enjoy a browse in there. Totally agree with Tanith, its a bit out of sight, out of mind for me now its not on the forum.

Definitely agree. I've probably checked it a maximum of 5 times since the revamp. Like Tanith says, it was a fundamental part of the 'community', and the community pretty much resided in the Forum, so moving it away from there just doesn't make sense. I'm guessing it might be a bit of a technical ball-ache, but if it could be linked to from a sticky at the top of General, and updated with the Latest Post whenever someone puts up something new I think it would see a lot more of us going back to TIA and posting.

Good idea. Having Al back would make it seem like the good old days again. And an amnesty for banned members. Monthly quiz? Which club did John Barnes finish his playing career at?

Its not been like 'the good old days' - lack of comments on some TIA is criminal

Can the Crates be reappraised also ?

As for John Barnes he last played for Charlton Athletic - he was registered as a Player with Celtic but never turned out for them - this came up somewhere recently - What do I win other than respect and I probably won't get that !!

Went in there for the first time on the new forum, and ya know what... I found some of the best shoes on the site. Well and truly out of sight and out of mind.

1) People still wear trainers! Honest, couldn't believe it. Loads of decent NB, lovely ///, some Saucony I've never seen before, AM87 before they went s**t and a few vintage beauts. I actually felt compelled to dig out a few boxes, being reminded of the great stuff of yore.

2) The brands need this to be front and centre on the forum to give them a poke in the eye as a reminder of what can be done when you give decent materials to decent designers. Lets compare and contrast with the majority of crap that they offer to CT and others to sell. Sure, there are a more than a few decent bits but largely I find myself consistently applauding the very, very laudable efforts of the CT Crew to compose complimentary prose on the turgid, repetitive shite that the brands regularly shat forth.

Birdy might or might not have told me this was highly do-able given time for applicable effort.

Whilst an app - if we want to use the iJargon, cos that's what you mean, right? - that wouldn't be inclusive enough I reckon. It'd be cool, no doubt, but I can't help wondering whether use of Twitter, oAuth and hashtags would open it up to more (every phone has many Twitter clients after all).

I'm more likely to check it these days, since the revamp more pf the pictures are viewable at work which is where I spend most time on here, unlike the old days when I'd just get pages and pages of little red Xs.

So many new names posting on TIA now since the site has had a facelift, seems to have brought people out the woodwork and some real nice footwear being shown. Would be great to see TIA as a sticky again, I always used to see someones name as a last post and rush to see what gems they had on their feet.

Still, I'm not entirely sure that I understand the problem really. The way I see it, it is a lot more present in the new make-up than before.
When I come to CT, I do so via the "community" button. If I'm not entering TIA via "drop-down" but take the way to the "community-startpage" instead, I will get a preview of the latest TIA contribution, which I consider a nice feature.
Should I late on continue into the fields of the specific sub-forums, the "community-finder" with the TIA link is always on top of things and I don't need to go via the general forum like it used to be. This, in my humble opinion, is an improvement.
The positive point about the sticky was though, that you were able to check which member has just posted, as it has been stated in this thread already.

I'm not sure now, is there something I'm missing?

The old TIA was better in every way. Was better with TOTP whores, all the pics on view, emoticons and pics in the comments, more posts per page etc. If the new TIA was as good or better than the old one then more people would use it...

unbelievable to think I broke my ankle on Tuesday and am yet to post a TIA photo with my cast, it is totally separated now and I check it even less frequently then I check the forum, bring back the sticky!

For me the horrible resizing and sharpening have ruined it, people used to try and take as nice a pic as possible as you were seeing a image representative of what you shot - now it's a case of take a pic and hope it fits the window and i now even turn down the sharpening on my camera to compensate for the forums auto sharpening.

How many times do you see the the term "Click for a better pic"?
