Too many Dunk variations for my liking and there's some serious pic FAILage (see below), but a decent enough feature.

FP Campus - Photo shows the recent B-Sides version.
Solebox NB1500 - Photo shows the 2009 version with the gum sole, which they actually mention (2005 had black).
Alife Grandslam - Where to start. Those garbage Consortium things don't resemble the proper ones in any way whatsoever.

Also, I'm pretty sure the Nike vintage (#46) weren’t even a collab and were just used on the catwalk shows.

Gwars ability to recall facts, create comprehensive lists crammed full of information facts and anecdotes are superb - the compelx lists are real good fun (and i love how angry they make people) nd mroe than not i agree with whats being said ....and soemtimes think "thats f*****g absurd G to add that to the list so high"

BUT

1. i wish they were on Crooked and given the crooked make-ups of previous features
2. the images used are shambolic and reduce the overall quality of the piece

Whoever sorts the pics out for those Complex articles is f*****g clueless. I admire Gary's writing but the consistently shoddy attention to detail that plagues that site means that I don't bother to check it these days.

Heavy Nike influence - maybe I lean towards Mrs. Daslers creations too much but there are some noteable Consortium absences IMHO

Same as any top 50 list you'll always beg to differ

Lists like these are never going to meet everyone's agreement but it would have been nice to see some of the older colabs: Harrods 1700's, Just for feet 1500's and 1600's, Takeo Kikuchi TK's, the first Size? and Offspring NB efforts, some of the early Oki-Ni - neon ZX8000 and carp skin Lavers, etc, etc.


At least he refrained from joining the current Ronnie Fieg Asics love in...

Am pretty surprised that none of the SNS 577s were in it nor the CT x Solebox or Black Beards. Id probably add the EQT 8000s and half of the AZX collection in replacement for all the Nike :bunnyface: Like Jim is saying no-one will ever agree when it comes to these things, especially when its a larger number like 50.

Must add that i was rather pleased to see the consortium plug pack in the top 20. Not the only one who loves that pack then. :metal:

Agree with what 157 said, one of those NBs have their places in this list and on the top imo, the 670ntus as well like some SNS 577 , and def give more prestige to the CT make ups ..

Some of the AZX consortium like Kev mentionned are missing (btw Kev I don't like them plug pack :P but I know you hate some Nike I dig ;P)..

Them Pattas are probably overated but if one has to be in the list of that pack I would go for the purple/white cw instead of the green/white and add some other Nike like the am87 Urawas and the Drury Currents or am87 drury....

Btw some pairs deserve to be in that list like the huarache stussy (gold cw)
Buuuut it's def real hard to make a top50, and like Marvin said, Gwar is a real good writer wich make the whole thing attractive..

I'm just saying but it would be nice to make different top10 per brand to be more precise...
Btw for I would like: *157 to make his own Top10 or Top15 Best New balance collab ever made for ex^^...
*Tim as I know you're in love with Nike in this days :P why not to making your top10 BestT Nike collab ever made...

Forgot to add the parra x patta 87s in the list, how can they be missing ?! Best general release's would just be all the OGs probably so you would need to make a date rule. One of the best GR for me would have to be the 2009 aqua ZX8000s.

for me this list is pretty much spot on. it reflects a time when collaborations were exciting not just a run of the mill thing being handed out to anyone who could sell 5,000 pairs.

im personally glad the list avoided most of the s****y asics, nb and saucony collabs that have been put out since 2008

Yeah, it's a little Nike-heavy just because I'm biased towards 2000-2005 colabs...good suggestions in this thread though. Filtering to 50 is just tough.

I find it quite baffling that they're not on here instead to be honest, since he works for CT. Not saying it's Gary's choosing ("I blame ASOS!!" shouts the angry mob lol), but it just seems bloody weird that a big piece about sneakers, written by someone at CT, is on a different site.


With Complex top 50s I write them in my spare time on BlackBerry (bar fact checking) and send them to Complex in parts...I like putting features on Crooked's features section, but after ditching the designed features because they were proving too time consuming, that current template just can't run multiple (I wouldn't put a 50 clickthrough on there, but those top 50s are 8000 words on average, so bitesize might help) pages without flopping on me...it would be a little redundant...and I'd rather have somebody else sourcing/resizing images than me. And I'd rather shoot in-house than steal shots of Google Images. But it's no fun when the images are all wrong (I tend not to re-read them because clickthroughs tire me) and I've been told there's plenty of errors in that one too. Plus I was only supposed to write one - some AM90s in association with Crooked last September but it kind of escalated. That collaboration one is the last I think. I'm all out of words.

Haha it's fine, I wouldn't have disbelieved you! :P

Like I said, wasn't saying it was your choosing or anything wrong with it, but that sort of thing should be supported more for sure. I don't know how things work at the new ASOSCT but it would be great if there was more of that sort of stuff up on here. New releases don't really interest me (being a pauper and all), but features are always nice to read lol.

But if there's content people would like to see on Crooked (I prefer nerd-outs to the same old retros, but as far as store-related content, I'm afraid the people bringing product to the country play it a little too safe) let me know...I would love to do features on old catalogues etc...

Those abortion 'plug pack' GS/Kegler are only in the list because they used the wrong photo. Should have been this (definite top 10 imo).



Also missing: 2002 Ultrastar JMJ (A proper collab if there ever was one), Oki-ni Italia, Marathon and pretty much anything they did pre-2004, Puma x SNS Clyde (the reindeer ones), EQT IRAKs, early Hanon NBs.

oki-ni releases are a good call...I also excised Parra AM1, SNS Goatskin Suedes, fragment Footscapes, Geoff McFetridge Vandals, Simpsons x Vans collection, Crooked’s Confederacy of Villainy collection, Ben Drury AM1, KR Air Force 1s, Sophnet Internationalists, IRAK Torsion EQTs, Futura FLOMs, DPMHI Terminator Hyperstrikes, United Arrows NB 997.5s, Packer Fila FX100, Wet Look Dunks and some Syndicate stuff...
