WHAT IS CROOKED TONGUES?
10 years ago, looking for information on the latest releases, or hunting for sneakers to buy online was more of a fragmented mission than merely Googling a model name. Enter www.crookedtongues.com in late 2000. London-based, in line with the capital’s discerning legacy, but international in its approach, the site has developed over the ensuing years, evolving with online developments, instigating ‘real world’ events and sought-after collaborative make-ups of the Crooked team’s favourites.
As the site enters its second decade in business, the retail side of Crooked Tongues is a more serious prospect. With official accounts, building on the deadstock-led, word-of-mouth approach to retail, we're mixing the ultimate in sneaker retail with cultural context, model histories and our opinion-led content, offering regular visitors and customers alike a more cohesive site experience without compromising Crooked’s original intent.
WHY THAT NAME?
It refers to the irritating movement of the tongue on a shoe that we find aesthetically displeasing. It's most prevalent on late '90's Nike runners, but first and foremost, it's a great name too.

We're not a blog, but we keep plenty of blog-style content in the magazine section of the site as well as features. We like to overanalyse sneakers.

No. We don't price our store inventory in Euros. We price it in £POUNDS.
DO YOU HAVE A PHYSICAL STORE?
Nope. Just offices and a warehouse. Have you seen the rent prices for London stores?
WHY ARE YOU CALLING THEM SNEAKERS RATHER THAN TRAINERS? YOU'RE UK-BASED AFTER ALL...
We like to call sports footwear trainers, but that term doesn't travel outside the UK, where we've got an audience too. They think we're just talking about cross training designs. Sneakers prevents confusion.
HEY! WHY HAVE YOU FEATURED A SHOE THAT ISN'T AVAILABLE IN THE STORE?
Occasionally, we're struck by a core skate piece, performance or store-only tier design that we can't get hold of as a non-athletic, online-only, non-skate store. So we feature it. We're keen to promote great design, and the site is built on a mix of retail and commentary. It would be remiss to omit some modern classics on the basis we can't sell them. When this happens, we'll tell you where you can pick them up.
YOU SOLD OUT OF WHAT I WANTED. WILL YOU GET A RESTOCK?
Sometimes they come back and sometimes they don't. It can be a cold world, but miracles do happen.
WHAT'S UP WITH POSTAGE?
You can get your product next day with the UK Next Day Delivery option provided you order before 5pm Monday to Friday. One price covers additional pairs too. Then there's FREE Sneakersaver delivery, which takes 4 days, but saves you money. Sneakersaver is available for UK and International orders. CAN I ORDER INTERNATIONALLY?
Of course. Europe, America, Asia...everywhere. We've been shipping globally for a decade now, so we know what we're doing. FREE Global Sneakersaver and tracked delivery options are available for international orders. Unless you're after adidas products. Again, check here for the nitty gritty.
WHY CAN'T I ORDER ADIDAS PRODUCTS IF I LIVE OUTSIDE THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA (EEA)?
As of January the 1st 2013, adidas have implemented a policy for European retailers that forbids them from selling their products beyond the European Economic Area (EEA). They make the rules and we, as an account holder, have to adhere to them. That includes Reebok too.
WHY CAN'T I ORDER REEBOK PRODUCTS IF I LIVE OUTSIDE THE EUROPEAN ECONOMIC AREA (EEA)?
See above. We never made that rule, but the brand has enforced it.
CAN I DELIVER TO A PO BOX, BFPO OR APO ADDRESS?
Afraid not. It's something we're looking into, but at present we can't deliver to them.
HOW DO I RETURN A PRODUCT?
It's pretty straightforward. There's plenty of in-depth returns details here.
ARE THESE SIZES UK OR US?
UK. We're UK-based after all, but you can see a conversion chart here. Obviously, that's based on estimates and some things fit smaller/larger than other ones. Your own experience with a brand and previous shoes along the same lines are a useful place to base a decision on fit too.
WHAT DO I DO IF MY ORDER HASN'T TURNED UP?

CAN I ORDER MORE THAN ONE PAIR OF THE SAME SHOE?
On most stock you can. For big new releases like Jordan XIs/IIIs/IVs or collaborative pieces in limited numbers, we enforce a maximum of two pairs per order. If you order more than two pairs, your order is liable of be cancelled. We want to give everyone a chance to grab a pair of big releases rather than pandering to resellers.
