You've probably got an opinion on Terry's pro-model already, and you've probably decided it's either hideous, or already placed your order. The Marmite effect at work. Personally, we can't pull this one off - it's for a younger generation. But before we trip and break a hip, we admire the fact this shoe has balls (and we're aware that's a pretty pauseworthy statement). Like Dylan Rieder's madcap Gravis pro-model, skate shoes seem ...

These 1World AF1s have been a mixed bag in terms of how wearable they've been, but there's no disputing the overall freedom they allowed their influential collaborators. Last night's result might have left Rio a little sore, but he can rest in the knowledge that he's made one of rte strongest entries (KR takes it though) - that and knowing he's absolutely loaded. Rolling in it. And post-football, maybe he can sell his sub-Noel Edmonds "You ...

'Awaydays' is definitely a good read. We can't testify as to the quality of the movie adaptation as we haven't seen it yet, but reliable sources (i.e. People that don't like dreck like 'The Football Factory') have told us it's pretty decent. We've never understood the need to drive home the authenticity of a wardrobe over such cinematic trivialities as acting, editing and direction, because that's how you end up with a film ...

Sometimes things go so far, that stripping it down to the basics feels like a breath of fresh air. This is what we like to see in a Dunk SB - cleanliness without being bogged down with conceptual flim flammery. Mind you, that cleanliness is likely to be short-lived. The material mix is something of an SB trademark, but in all white, keeping this shoe pristine will prove to be a task of Herculean magnitude. Just looking at the nubuck is ...

The gulf between heritage and performance footwear is pretty much the death knell for interesting shoes. It certainly played it's part in stemming the heavy flow of sneaker innovation to a percolator drip-drip, and while the walls are gradually crumbling, it's left to a brand with Teflon athletic credentials that go back to the Onitsuka origins and a more youthful retro division to do it right. ASICS have been giving the people what they want over the last ...

The 1400 is a shoe we're big fans of here - once a top-of-the-line runner, now it's been retired into the more gentle life it deserves in later life as a key part of the lifestyle range. This design blew us away in the office and during it's trade show outings this year. For those looking for something obvious, it's easy to pass by - this is a classy silhouette that hasn't been treated with the respect ...

etnies keep us on their toes with their special releases every year. We never know when they're set to drop, but after the 20th anniversary celebrations of '06, Sole Technology head honcho and friend of Crooked, Mr Pierre Andre has instigated some interesting rehauls, with his original pro model, the Senix, as the subject. Environmental concerns have been part of the gameplan for a while now, and the 'Drinking Age' collection wore it's eco credentials on its sleeve ...

We covered the final P-Rod 1 chapter on the site a couple of years back, and for the purposes of consistency, we felt we should shoot the final P-Rod 2 before the admittedly superior P-Rod 3, implementing the significant technical breakthroughs the SB crew have been beavering away in Beaverton on makes its grand entrance. The second Paul Rodriguez model impressed us on its debut. What really made an impact was the 'easter egg' style attention-to-detail throughout alongside the performance ...

PUMA's Bodé collection has been an interesting one thus far. While we should've called time out on 'b-boy' and references to the brand's suede output by now as it's verging on cliche, anyone who grabbed the reissued 'Subway Art' will have noted the sheer volume of Formstripes on writers' feet. That wasn't one of those heavy-handed sponsorship deals either. Given Vaughn's hugely significant style contribution to the scene, it's one of the few ...

In '05 did you anticipate just how much of an influence Hypebeast and fixed-gear bikes would wield? If you did, then you're obviously skilled in the black arts, because we had little to no idea as to how things would pan out by '09. More fool us. Kanye (again, when you first saw the 'Through The Wire' video, did you forsee his current status?) shouts out his fellow onetime blog underdogs, who once rested beneath the glass ceiling a ...

Two drops have passed and the reactions to this design have been hugely entertaining. From feverish camp outs to cop in the knowledge there's less shoes inside than there is monied rough sleepers, to the absolute horror from others at the Yeezy's sheer audacity. In fact, the polarized opinions parallel the reactions to android-voiced fourth LP.For us, it's just a good shoe. We've long been craving the addictive fix of awe and unease that the ...

We remember the happy days, reworking new Turbulences, Prestos and Baltoros to our hearts content. We're even nostalgic for dicking around with that 180 Racer that looked a bit like something Aladdin might run in while sitting in plush surroundings. Then there was the arguable golden age that 'History Of Air' brought to the table in late '05/early '06, allowing us to play around with those seminal designs, offering a fair amount of freedom. And freedom's the ...

If we're honest, we aren't wearers of much Diesel or their streetwear spinoff, 55DSL. However, we're in a minority with that wardrobe choice. The brands are huge. Massive. Not in a two tees and a blog way, but genuinely massive. You know that though. You know about the clever ads, the stores and the dream job-related promotions. The fact we don't wear much probably doesn't harm their share prices. Ultimately, we've got a healthy ...

This week has seen the legit, official launch of the Stefan Janoski from Nike SB. A couple of weeks back we showcased the black variation, but it transpires that it's twinned on its debut with this superior brown colourway. We liked it in the first place, but having had a pair within our sights both on our feet and sitting behind the monitor for roughly a fortnight it's grown on us even more. Maybe it's the weather ...

We love Air Trainer 1s round these parts, and going on the love it frequently gets shown from Nike, down to the noble but failed SB version and up to the mighty Zoom Trainer 1 Haven mashup, recently re-released sans carbon to an appreciative performance audience, the good people of Beaverton love it too. It's a pioneering design that stays relevant. Tinker's time at the YMCA was well-spent. but when you've got makeups as glorious as the ...

Nike's approach to retros is never something we can second guess. Until we visited the sales showroom last October, we weren't aware that overwhelming demand for a Killshot retro had meant the brand felt pressured to put one out. As consumers stood outside with flaming torches demanding its resurrection, execs finally gave in, allowing the affordable court shoe's safe return. Maybe the public demand is a product of our feverish imaginations, but the Killshot is a nice ...

Gourmet Cinque

@ 6:02PM by gwar
Set for a lower pricepoint than yesterday's News entry, this Gourmet model is almost more shoe than sneaker. There's a tug of war going on, and the smarter side is victorious, but with a healthy dose of high-end and Clarks up in the mix, this is a very, very lightweight design. The Autumnal shades are correct for the Cinque's mooted release date, but this definitely has summer shoe scope too. This isn't the Cinque's first ...

Take a Union man, a onetime investment banker and a former Fred Segal buyer and you're probably going to get a little more than a conceptual colour-up on the usual shoes. Gourmet hit the ground running, via a team with a sprawling industry C.V. and if you thought it was all fly pared-down Jordan VIIs, XIs and XIIs with funny legal pun names, you've grossly underestimated the brand. The Arc'Teryx hookup and premium jewellery subdivision that ...

Pretty much every Air Max has been on a subtly changing road since its inception and the retros, re-releases of retros and re-re-re-re-re-re-re-releases of retros, but in the last 12 months, the Air Max 90 has been altered dramatically under the NSW banner, as the Free midsole tweaks came into play. The 90 is semi-sacred to us, mainly because it's the Swooshed release that best represents the UK. You can try to foist the Uptown on us, but we ...
