A week late on these, but they had to be included in the news as they're one of the nicest executions of one of the greatest shoes ever - "pee stain" effect and all. Whether its the inline SB version in basic shades or that much-missed black and white canvas foxed '02 retro of a late '70s early '80s Blazer Mid shape with the skinnier branding, we'll just keep hoarding this model in any incarnation along these lines. They certainly don't need that yellowing on the midsole, but if that's the price we have to pay for a superb retro, we'll just keep quiet. We're still a little perplexed by last year 's wooden-eyeballed decision to omit the green suede highs from official UK shelves. It was hard to envision more of a no-brainer in that season's offerings, but hey, what do we know? If a statistician uses a spreadsheet to deem green suede unprofitable, we can't stand in the way of that. We'll just quietly seethe at the conservative buying habits of our countrymen.
These were the standout in a buy last year, and they're just perfect sneakers...trainers...whatever you want to call them. Pretty comfortable...well in comparison to the injuries inflicted on our feet in the name of this iconic footwear, while we're still waiting to see the Franchise brought back, these do the job in grey or black. Lately, bar that beautiful NB JP 1300 retro we've been obsessed with the new breed of Free and Lunar pieces, but these are just the things to kill our progressive preoccupation stone dead. Cleanliness is still close to godliness and this silhouette is proof positive. As per usual, you know the deal with these - you'll take them for granted, scowl at the vintage application then mourn for them when they quietly disappear from the shelves. That's always the way with releases like this - you don't know what you've got until its gone. And we'll exit on a self-promotional note - they're on sale in the Crooked Store now.
