Nike's running offerings keep on effing with our collective consciousness. The Nike LunarGlide+ 2 is another potential modern classic. Obviously we wouldn't call classic quite yet, but at some point there must have been a brief to push running design into the 21st century that commenced with the Lunar Racer and never lost pace. We gushed about the LunarGlide+ a year ago. The original — especially in the London makeup — is a near-masterpiece, and elements of the even-better LunarElite+ design DNA is set to stream into trend level soon, and while we've never quite loved the Lunar Racer (which is a classic) sequels as much as the originals, the LunarGlide+ 2 takes all that was good in the original and cranks the appeal.

Seriously, having seen some performance pieces we'd be hunted down and slaughtered for naming, Nike's new golden age keeps on rolling out. Thank you Flywire, and thank you Lunarlon. Will trend level embrace the new breed like they did with the Huarache? Who knows? It's not 1992 anymore. Will those that know stockpile like they did with slept-on Zoom Spiridons and JSTs? Well, it's not 1998 any more, but these feel like more demonstrations of where Nike runners should be be 12 years down the line.

Most importantly, raised as we were desperately trying to hunt Air Max 90s and Huaraches in women's colours, we noticed that female footwear suddenly became a major oversight (bar those Foot Locker WildEdges in Terra ACG colours that passed us by). Nike are resurrecting the must-have ladies makeups. While many of the CT office dwellers are sized out of ownership by gender differences, there's a faction at the HQ celebrating. Because the LunarGlide is so damned gender-specific, and built on a woman's last you need to stick to your own kind rather than trying to get your feet into a giantess size.

Dynamic Support feels good, the seamless upper looks phenomenal, the heel counter and rear details are some future isht that stays wearable and then there's the colours. With the material contrast on the forefoot offering the scope for going all out with the iD options which are online here. The option to pick different sizes and widths, as well as your preferred sockliner is some serious runner talk, but you know we're all about the aesthetics, and the LunarGlide+ 2 delivers on that front. These are out now at the usual spots for proper performance designs...
