adidas Originals Superstar Vintage Red/White image

The adidas Superstar Vintage is a real testament to how hard the German side went in the late '60s and early '70s. We're not quite old enough to register the initial impact of the shoe. We just remember already ageing b-boys telling us, quite rightly, that Superstars were classic and berating our first Shelltoe purchases for not being as good as their early '80s pairs. Despite the fact we still see them looking forlorn in their lager-soaked tracksuits and rusted namebelts at jams from time to time, they knew better than us.

The release of the '80s Superstar has put the slimmer, smoother shelled original in the shade a little. Even Neighborhood have moved on a decade or so for their latest variation. But seriously, this is history in the making right here — weirdo basketball innovation that became the norm. We've always liked the fact that since its Superstar35 reintroduction, while this silhouette's had more reptile effect thrown at it than "Moaty" had mourners, and some makeups weren't to our tastes, the quality has always been there. Red leather with white 3-Stripes and toe is classicism at work, and this variation is set for release next month and available to pre-order in the Crooked Tongues store now...
