The adidas Superstar has had a good run of it lately, but we still like to see a spot of variety. This workwear ('Workwhere?') themed version is definitely different. From a distance we approached it with a certain brevity, assuming it was some kind of brown suede creation. Then we noticed how weird it actually is. Presumably based on a blue-collar working uniform, this makeup's eccentricity sails above the mundane day-to-day existence. It's strange. Where do we start? The lightweight canvas-style fabric employed here? The zip-tongue that instantly evokes KangaROOS and Muska memories? Let's dwell on the fact this shoe's got elasticated black stripes...you don't see that on too many shoes. We associate stretch fabrics on an adidas Shelltoe with Run DMC endorsed tongue supports for laceless wear, but on the branding? Less so. It's all so bizarre, and kept relatively innocuous, that they work on their own merits as a simple shoe. That tongue branding isn't necessarily our thing, should we be asked to define our "thing" when it comes to logos, but it doesn't throw a spanner in the works for this design. These are available for pre-order in the Crooked Tongues store now for a release next month...
