The 'Turn Right' adidas Micropacer gives a shoe with a serious fanbase something a little different. This isn't one for all tastes—where the other signage-themed shoes stay weird but clean, the Micropacer gets the most garish reworking. Then again, it's hardly a shoe renowned for subtlety—trainers with silver in the makeup and a built-in digital readout can barely call minimalist status. Still, despite some obvious exceptions (we're looking in your direction, George Lucas—yeah, you with the beard, sitting on the pile of money...) this model has always been surprisingly clean for such a gimmicky creation. This one really goes all out.

Reflective yellow highlights on the 3-Stripes and forefoot, grey and yellow on the midsole, a directionless emboss patterning on black premium leather, plus an off-white and grey print on a thick canvas makes them a pretty polarising design. Opinions on this model are split between love and hate in the office, but we can all concede that the shoe harks back to a time when adidas really couldn't lose—even on the extra-abstract running ideas they were periodically pumping out towards the mid '80s. For one reason or another, the Micropacer attracts a certain level of collector who's gotta have 'em all, as if these were leathery, digitised Pokemon. A strange shoe indeed, and the 'Turn Right' adidas Micropacer is available to pre-order in the Crooked Tongues store now, set for a July release.

The leather looks cheap and plasticy.
