We don't know why we never laid our hands on a decent Air Max 1 that follows the theme, but the Nike Air Maxim 1 Omega is a good example of a new makeup done right on a shoe that can work in certain executions. Given the similarities between Max and Maxim, despite only being a year old, to render the shoe in anything original is a Herculean challenge for any colourway operative. The easy way out? Air Attack the damned things with a single block colour, like the recent Vivid Pinks, which to quote a family member are,
"So pink, they couldn't get any pinker —it almost goes beyond pink..."
We're not 100 percent on what the "Omega" reference is. We think it's a college fraternity thing...like those films with the gratuitous breasts, nerds and angry deans trying to kill the party. As Brits, that's a mystery to us - we need no excuse to binge drink when we get our ex-polytechnic on. We might be missing the mark. Whatever, it reps, the faux suede, flexible fabric and Flywire in navy, with printed red details set on a white Air midsole wins. The Roman-style lettering on the footbed and the heel and tongue designs look good too. One of the best variations of the Nike Air Maxim 1s, and pleasantly devoid of the mooted Torch material too, these are available to

”i especially like the little swanky penis graphic!
”Torch is cool. I like Torch on Rujuven8 Mids, but I actually prefer the materials on the Maxim as is...
”Personally I think (for the majority) they're excellent. Fantastic colourway, clean detailing and that sole is fantastic. My only worry is the choice of materials
”why the hate on torch?
”Not the best re-hash of the Air Max 1.
”Terrible shoes. Nike make rubbish retros.
