We hear you - "Sellouts! Why are you featuring a News post about a football film? You're a f*cking trainer website." Stop your whining. Firstly, what we saw of 'Cadencia' - Darren Bartlett's film, inspired by his time in Rio was sick. Like the recent No Mas 'Rumble in the Jungle' films, some fantastic animation is employed here too, alongside some beautifully shot video and photography (for the geeks, and we know you're aaaaaaall photographers these days, it ...

We heard about 10.Deep's hookup with adidas a while back, but until we saw a release date, we assumed it's release was a long, long time away - this year is moving a little too fast for our liking.. We've got the utmost repect for the brand for weathering the current streetwear storm, dropping gems from the Digital Gravel era to the present day and maintaining an aura of legitimacy while seemingly shifting units (props to local ...

We've taken so many looks at PUMA Suedes these last few months that we're running out of words...we would copy/paste existing press copy about them, but we can't bring ourselves to do it. So what do we pad this paragraph out with? Talk of the impending new and improved Crooked site that we're currently working on, to replace our current sturdy but increasingly creaky electronic presence? Trying to explain just how funny it is ...

Late again, but a necessary inclusion, we're not going to lie, we're too toy to get round to even go near a skateboard in a pair of these, but while we ummed and aahed at the obscenely early shots of these that moped around the messageboards, the final thing is prettttty good. Having shrugged off the original jpeg as a popular cut-down bestseller put through a time machine, the final release of Omar Salazar's Nike pro-model is ...

"Our latest shoe will protect you against injury for longer than any other shoe. Assuming the price doesn't kill you." They weren't joking either. The 1300 holds a special place in our hearts. A really special place. Like the adidas Forum it's a pioneer in the pricetag stakes, one of the godfathers of the new breed of performance pieces you could only aspire to own unless you were spoilt, sold drugs or were dead serious about the ...

Nike Air 180

@ 11:23PM by gwar
Five years on since the last retro, and it looks like the buzz for the 180 is back. Trippy, seeing as the last round didn't fly, despite some fine new colours and an abundance of original palettes. In fact, that whole 'Powerwall' from early '06 was riddled with underrated makeups that we haven't seen since. It's curious that now, despite a brief appearance in the 'Maxx (and we aren't talking Sam Kieth's comic creation here ...

Since the Slam City refurb, that basement, once the domain of solemn looking kids gawping at Thurston Moore's signature on the ceiling, pawing Can reissues in Rough Trade, has been a fine spot for showcasing brands. Syndicate smashed it, SB was a good occupation, and yesterday saw the launch of the Emerica/Altamont installation down there. Emerica still brings it - the Andrew Reynolds endorsed Cruiser and Braydon Szafranski are office favourites on the skate side, and Altamont remains a ...

This shoe was initially a controversial one for us. We grew up with the BW. We lusted after the Persians, shrugged and made do with the grey/white/blacks from the saleracks in the early '90s and didn't bat an eyelid when it just stayed and never went away. So many shoes passed...180s, '93s, '95s, TNs, 360s, but the Big Window just seemed to stay. There was a certain ageless quality to this model. So you could say ...

There was no way we were going to pass on covering these shoes. The buzz around this retro has been apparent since last Summer, and we're stoked to see it - it's hardly the most accessible Nike design, and instead of firing the imagination of the masses, this was one for dedicated runners and forward-thinking characters in the know, like the Duellist, and later, the Zoom Swift Triax and JST. Super light, and in terms of colours and that ...

For all the great makeups, the Lyte Speed has been fairly anonymous next to the retro rollout collossus that is the Gel Lyte III. Maybe we haven't been paying attention so far, but for all the good looking variations, none have exploited the lightweight, mesh-heavy point-of-difference the shoe provided circa. 1991 with the fully meshed-out toe. These do. ASICS have broken a few barriers over the years with their runners, but the dips into the archive have been pretty ...

For a minute we got a little vexed at the sheer volume of sneakers trying their best not to look like sneakers, blacking them out, coating them with brown hues, and cloning Red Wings. After all, if the brands had no confident in sneakers, surely they were shooting themselves in their wingtip-emulating foot? Then we saw the HTM2, new LeBrons, Lunarwoods, LunarElites and all the rest. That shut us up. Nike Sportswear seems to have a sample size plonked firmly ...

This is some of that old classy isht - adidas is no stranger to giving a shoe the luxury treatment, but these are outstanding on the quality front. We don't know if they're a riposte to Nike Sportswear's recent invincible leather Blazers or the current spate of high-end designer pieces for those richer than Richie (RIP Biggie), but the Unforseen Non-Dyed makes its mark with an appearance that's instantly appealing. You can't go far wrong with ...

Sole Technology owner Pierre Andre's annual PAS collections are usually high concept affairs, but this year's version takes it even further in the theme stakes. Being a dad has evidently altered his already conscious outlook, resulting in the '6th Element' collection shown here. As ever, it's out in low, low numbers, with the collection name reflecting the next generation taking up skating. Using the modified Senix silhouette, Pierre's pro-model, stripped down for a more eco-friendly and ...

Just when we got bored with the state of sneakers, the trinity of Hiroshi, Tinker and Mark returns, bringing another Mark - performance design ace and Innovation Kitchen denizen Mark Smith, for HTM2. If that doesn't excite you from a conceptual point-of-view we feel bad for you son. So what do we get this time? Some nice Uptowns with contrast stitching and plush leathers? Nope. HTM2 is simply that next shit. This here is a site built on the back ...

Like you, we've spent a great deal of time trying to ascertain as to whether anyone's actually fighting the good fight and dropping those future classics. We thought pieces like the Beacon were the ones, but the sole unit splits office opinion (are there shades of that performance aesthetic in the Torch pieces?) but now it seems the Nike Running line is building a new legacy that'll spare us the pioneering but increasingly over saturated retro runner ...

How hard did the Nizza come back in the last 18 months? We'd long ignored them beyond the blue and white versions, but we've finally accepted them as a decent adidas heritage piece that encapsulates a craving for simple stuff that doesn't seem to be subsiding. We even had our name attached to some distressed versions that split opinion in the office - for the record, we prefer them pristine. It only takes a week to 'vintage' white ...

We don't know what triggered the Rod Laver's resurrection - maybe we'll never know, like the undead in a Romero movie, but we're happy that there's two variations currently doing the rounds at top tier level. Last year's vintage onslaught left us a little overwhelmed, and truth be told, we overlooked a few makeups as a result, but adidas isn't done yet, letting a few Consortium partners got back for more - UNDFTD dropped a ...
