adidas Consortium Micropacer Lux image
The adidas Consortium Micropacer Lux is a pretty interesting take on a current craze. The craze in question is dressing a bit like your dad. Everyone's complementing each other on their waxed jackets and punch-patterned shoes. We don't feel particularly threatened by it because those leather soles on a train platform ain't no joke. You'll always need sports footwear in your life. For an early '80s curiosity, the adidas Micropacer's maintained a remarkable level of longevity since those early '00s reissues garnered some attention, and it seems to be the first port of call when the minds behind Consortium want to go crazy with a concept.

The iPod tributes and the hamper version weren't playing when it came to the material executions and packaging, but these Lux versions take it way out there. Brogue status on a sneaker is nothing new - we've seen it work before and we've seen it crash and burn too - someone's really put in some work here, down to the appropriately slippery leather outsole. It's an amusing juxtaposition of the digital and defiantly analogue, and they even come with their own branded polish, cloth and brush to keep 'em pristine. We never thought we'd see the day when one of adidas's most ambitious creations got the Florsheim-style wingtip treatment.

By description alone, it's doubtful we'd want to see them, but in the flesh the quality is outstanding, and they're very well executed indeed, staying classy like Ron Burgundy himself. The downside? We're still awaiting a UK RRP, but these aren't going to be cheap. The Consortium Micropacer Lux hits the Crooked Tongues store and selected Consortium partner spots this Saturday, the 15th of May - pipe and tweed blazer not included.

“why not limit coments to oxford students"

Because that would make no sense in terms of the community that make up this site. Neither does the inconsistency of allowing anonymous posting on here but not in the main forum.

Anon on May 11, 2010 @ 15:07

Why only one small picture? Can't actually see any detail of the shoes or the gubbins that comes with em

why not limit coments to oxford students

That was me below btw.

Might be worth limiting comments to logged-in users.

It's getting to the stage with Pacers where the box and it's contents looks better than the shoe. e.g. the Hamper edition from a couple of years ago.

its the thought that counts ch33ky.

Damn, "demonstrated below". Hoisted on my own petard. Drat, pish and fiddlesticks.

Anonymous posting as demonstrated above adds f*ck all. Neither do these aberrations.

Seriously, if you've got something to say, and can muster more than a single word, why not register / login?

Otherwise simply pause and consider whether this site can indeed carry on just fine with out your comments.

Thanks.
