Crazy flamboyant for the rap enjoyment, the Nike HTM Woven a few years back took a design that was already bizarre, and as opposed to the starkness of other Hiroshi, Tinker and Mark teamups, gave it some extra visibility with rainbow weave. The 2000 and 2001 Wovens were muted in colours, despite the shock-of-the-new by way of traditional design cues - the extra colours were something else altogether. Now it's all Lunar everything, that sole's getting fused to a whole lot of footwear, and these Lunar Woven Chukkas owe a debt to a certain era when Nike dropped an avant-garde bomb that helped forge a new collector market and unite high-end and street style. While some were up in arms when the Woven Chukka debuted, we've got to side with the ridged Lunar look as a winning sole unit of choice unit, and the textured white leather detailing works nicely too. As you'd assume, these are incredibly comfortable, and extremely light. In these blog-saturated times, we won't pretend we jump for joy over this kind of referential design - though seeing a rainbow weave Superfly lately was the footwear equivalent of an acid flashback to a time before excess hype - but had we clocked these in an issue of Boon back in the day, we would've been staking out Yahoo Japan's Auctions and Rakuten. These are available at the usual spots where Nike oddities dwell...if the News has been Nike-heavy lately, chill - we've got plenty more brands instore for the impending Crooked relaunch...
