Where were Nike Dunk makeups like this when we'd momentarily stopped caring about this model? Looking like a Dunk spent a night with the Vandal and one of the Imperial Guards from 'Return of the Jedi' there's burgundy for days on a rugged canvas version of the shoe in that more comfortable Zoom Air variation. Like the happy days of True Red SBs garnering attention, there's something about all red sneakers that sits somewhere between awesome and audacious 'Wizard of Oz' campdom, but the darker shade here (and we did chuckle at the colourway name because we're puerile and pathetic like that) with a touch of black renders these a little more easy-to-wear. The best versions of shoes just appear in showrooms without thematic PR baggage, and these embody that treatment.
We don't know what we're getting when it comes to this old favourite nowadays. Nothing's sacred and no idea's original, but excess deconstruction and reconstruction has left us jaded so we won't pretend we're not relieved to see it on a normal sole unit rather than a baked rubber olde worlde effort. The distressed leather effect on the heel and swoosh works here too. We can't see all-red-everything catch on unless you want to be mistaken for someone claiming Piru (and you really don't need that hassle in your life), but these are a good effort that's due to drop here in October. We were so struck by them we even managed to write another couple of paragraphs of barely-related crap on the Dunk again. We thought we'd run out of words pertaining to this shoes after so many appearances on this site...

Not bad for a dunk.
