Our buddies at Complex got in contact regarding the slightly outlandish task of compiling the very best Nike Air Max 90s of all time. Not a top 10, but a full 50 in line with the countdowns they seem to pump out online on a daily basis. To begin with, some in the office doubted that there were 50 to pick from without scraping the barrel. Incorrect. The final shortlist was nearly 100 deep, and it's a fairly personal selection. What's missing? There's Footaction releases from the shoe's original re-release that were lost in our memories, and we've already seen some queries regarding the absence of 'Huf Quakes' or 'Elmer's Glue' up in there. Personal preference, yo.

There's a gum-soled leather pair from late 1991 of which details were impossible to source too. To see every JD colourway in one place would have been helpful, but it wasn't to be. There's a good reason you see AF1 lists every other day, while the '90 stays a little quieter. It's a decent selection, but you can't throw 50 shoes together without indadvertent omissions—Navy Storm fanboys have every reason to be vexed at their absence. And bar the 87/90 mashup, no other hybrids were allowed to enter—that was a self-imposed rule. Was splitting MX Orange and 'Infrared' the right thing to do? Does the Escape II top the original, 'Evil Dead II' style? It's all open to heavy debate, but it's nice to see Nike's finest get the shine it deserves. Check the feature out right here.
