Sunday is Sabbath day – the day of rest. So in conjunction with Veja, we threw a party on the very said day for the launch of their Domingo shoe that we recently
covered. Taking on board a more laid back approach to your average launch party and it happening on the appropriately-translated-day-from-Domingo — it being Sunday in Portugese — the Nightjar in Old Street hosted the evening’s proceedings. The Nightjar is a discreet gentlemen’s cocktail bar situated in a basement with a 1930’s swanky styled interior and for those in the know of this venue, it’s a grand spot to grab a drink.
On entry into the Nightjar, a relaxed mood settled everyone, particularly those who may have been feeling fragile from the rest of their weekend’s shenanigans. However, the trusted good old aged trick of the hair of the dog sorted it all out as people were their merry selves. Cocktails galore were naturally on offer from the Nighthar, as their staff served up lavish concoctions and brought them round to the seated well-dressed attendees. It was a rather relaxed, civilised and sophisticated affair —the choice of the fetching venue definitely had a hand in this. To accompany the course of the evening, light jazz warmly played through the air.
As much as people are usually down for a (cocktail) party and to be plied free drinks, appreciation was shown for the Domingo. People got involved with the makeshift photo-booth and modelled the shoe of the moment. The shoe didn’t look out of place on those who wore it, as its subtle brogue detailing done the trick on the flossing front.
A massive thank you goes out to the Veja team for making this Sunday night jam happen and the ever so lovely staff at the Nightjar.
