The Nike Vortex has been getting plenty of love from Nike lately. It's one of our personal favourites in the sneaker stakes, but we're glad that the V-Series is a sacred shoe at Nike HQ too, with several of today's key players at the company involved in the development of the collection. Almost as good as the legendary Nike Epic, the Vortex embodies the running boom spirit of 1985, with Nike on the verge of their technology takeover, but still demonstrating that slimmer, pre visible air restraint. Today, of all days, as the reissue of the 2015-themed Back to the Future II Air Mags is imminent, the Vortex looks even more quaint, but these suede makeups of it prove that the shoe is still unbeatable.
You can't top the blue, white and gold, but simplicity is the key to really setting this shoe off, with only the strips of Scotchlite doing the loud talking. Its been a crazy week on the swoosh front, so these feel like a Pepto-Bismol application to offset the hype of the last few days. That heel counter alongside perforated suede? Yeah, we'll have some of that. Stability and cushioning was always this Air-Wedge aided classic's modus operandi, with models like this and the Pegasus GX competing with Brooks, Mizuno and New Balance in the serious running stakes. We like it when serious performance pieces get retired from the rigors of running to age gracefully. These drop next month in the
