Yesterday we held a little "do" as part of adidas's #adidasunderground season. Despite a ton of activity in the area and folks keen to watch the underwhelming Olympic closing ceremony, plenty of our friends and those hunting complementary "refreshments" passed through. With the BBQ put on ice this year we thought we'd take up adidas's kind invitation to get involved (and we guessed the Stone Roses gig pretty early on) and thought we'd just pay tribute to our favourite adidas running shoes with lots and lots of hip-hop playing. We weren't in the mood for high concept this year. Our friends at Livin Proof' played every decent track anyone wanted to hear, the sound system was on point, you had to play rock-paper-scissors to get food, drinks were acquired via some technically advanced wristband system that debuted at Coachella and the converted Village Underground venue was stunning. We decked it out with some classic adi catalogue imagery and adi running TIA shots, while Chris Turner and Robert Brooks' shoebox rendition of the recently retroed Phantom swallowed up the VIP section. It was fun. Will we have a BBQ next year? Who knows — the venue's always going to look shabby compared to the #adidasunderground space. Thanks to adidas UK, Gary, Mikey, the other Gary, Steve, Livin' Proof and everybody who attended and assisted in the night's good vibes. Here's a little video edit of the night and there's some pictures to come over the next 24 hours...
