Nike Sportswear Air Max 90
It's tough to get excited about the Nike Air Max 90 these days, but some fine makeups still drop to raise our temperatures over a shoe that's been issued in so many colours that they've gone full circle. A denim-like version before Christmas reminded us of the Courir edition, but this cotton canvas edition's a strong look too. In conventional materials we probably wouldn't have given this makeup too much attention, but the Obsidian and University Blue works with that canvas perfectly and the white midsole compliments it too alongside the clean contrast of the laces and lining — and we're using "clean" in a genuinely positive way, because usually clean's a really nice way of saying that something's dull. This shoe's like a superior JD edition mixed with something fresher, but it is what it is — nothing too remarkable, but a solid version of a staple. There's not much else to say about it. Like any decent version of the AM90, these would work at road level with affordable fleecewear rather than any kind of fancy denim. Curiously, the Air Max 87 (celebrating its 25th year in 2012) seems to be in the midst of a boomtime as part of a standard issue uniform for a new breed of hype consumer but the 90's been left in the dust a little, beyond the wheaty Vac Tech variant. These are in the Crooked Tongues store right now.
