Nike have resurrected the Mayfly, but they seem to have found the key to eternal life, because now, the shoe that would last little more than a marathon isn't really a Mayfly any more. From a brand communication standpoint that must make PR'ing these NSW editions hell, but they're pretty yet pointless. Not only did the Mayfly have the mother of all performance gimmicks with its self-destructive functionality for the kind of lightweight superiority that Bill Bowerman would approve of, but it looked tremendous too, so it's nice to wear the shoe without having to count every step. The Mayfly Woven mixes this 2003 classic with a 2000 icon and the byproduct is okay — it's not touching the Footscape Woven and we don't necessarily co-sign the "throw a weave on it" policy, but these are kind of good, with an African sandal type look that's good for those with narrow feet and no-socks. Unnecessary but kind of fly and available in select NRG accounts now...
