Some brands from our childhoods have lost their luster through botched licensing deals and the ensuing piss-poor comebacks. Some changed their demographic (Fila, please come back and get premium again please) and some were just lame in the first place. However,
le coq sportif still has a certain panache, that's reinforced by those legit bike (via the Tour De France) and basketball (via Joakim). If you're looking for history, what brand was Cool V rocking when he struck a pose next to Biz Markie in his once-fabled Air Safaris? He was wearing the bird on his shoes. So the old and new infrastructure is there and the Eclat is a great running silhouette. The shape, the nylon mesh panels and the suede, plus that plastic lacing system are all on point, but the colour options that angular heel panel allows are worked nicely on this trio of colourways that (and we might be wrong) we believe are a Euro only drop. 1985 (the best year for running shoes ever) looks benefit from the pick of palettes here, but that green and zesty yellow is our favourite here, followed by that Knicks style navy and orange combo, each offset by a block of slanted grey suede on the rear. These go on sale later this week in the Crooked Tongues store and they're a lesson in how do do a pack right — and not a pointless concept in sight.

deffo my favourite 80s running shoe, great design, the lines make the back of the midsole look thicker than it actually is and gives that great shape....only downside is the nylon feels now a lot more plasticky and cheap than on the previous retros.
”I've always wanted a green colorway..wish granted.
