The adidas Green Star has evidently been lined up as a range mainstay this year. When we first saw reissues of the shoe (in the original green Boston Celtics makeups) back in 2007 there was a real mystique to them and it's clear that this is a shoe that deserves its story told. Dating back 42 years or so, it's a model with history, from the original Green Star that lived up to its name to the Tournament to the Jabbar Tournament to the various iterations of the adidas Campus. The Green Star's innocuous looks betray the pop cultural herringbone patterned footprints they birthed. It's a design that held up well too and while we saw some nubuck editions a few weeks back that applied a vintage look to the sole, this duo is equally as effective, leaving that area gleaming white to offset the gum outsole, with the tonal treatment to the stripes on that suede upper and the canvas on the heeltab looking great. The all red upper is a nice option but that military-style green feels truer to the shoe's origins. Between these and the current Campus 80s, it's nice to have two generations of low-cut basketball classicism to pick from at the same time and both colourways are in the Crooked Tongues store right now.
