More of those ol' robotic futuristic George Jetson crazy joints? Oh yes. Nike Sportswear Vac Tech Air Force 1s have already made three appearances here and these are another new look for this Uptown redux. All suede AF1s are the best AF1s and these take that aesthetic into a strange, tactile place. A few years back, this model would have had nothing but blank stares and screwfaces. Now audiences are a little more receptive of Forces with significant modifications and these releases are all the better for a traditional sole in a putty-coloured finish and none of that borderline lame transparency that lets you see the Air unit. We don't need to see it to know that it's there. As far as we're concerned, these futuristic tweaks accompany the original nicely while pandering for our tonal shoe fetish. A solitary colour seems to cut through the Blockaboot look of some AF1 colourways. And a stitchless swoosh beats those nasty no-swoosh versions too, with an Air of tactile iD try-on look to them. We know the Hyperfuse process but the Vac Tech process is still a mystery. What is it? Is it vacuum sucked over an existing shoe? These are simple and strange at the same time and are set to drop next month.
