hi everybody and welcome to my crate.
doing this has made me realise that i have more shoes than i will ever need-
i still think they look quite special in their groupings.

here comes familiar story-(with a twist!)
loved sneakers from early age-
my dad used to laugh at how i walked around the city head down looking at people's feet.
parents would never fork out for shoes- 'you'll only grow out of them!'- also being a twin hampered the situation as it meant they had to drop twice the coin.
anyhoo, my brother and i would scour every sports store in and around melbourne looking for different and cheap stuff- bargain bins were our friends.
mum relented one day and took us to bulleen plaza to purchase some jordans- but the canvas ones- which i now know to be ajko, but as we were 8 at the time and our shoe size was about 3 or 4, we were gutted to find they only came in size 6 up. completely devestated! ended up with some good quality rip off- stadia or something.
after a few, more 'credible' wannabe jordan purchases- puma awesome, converse magic- and an emotional episode at age 10 where my dad got his mate to get us some reebok b'ball shoes in hong kong, only for him to bring back aerobic boots! tears- until i saw a mate's dad had them and he drove a gold porsche- made me feel a little better. same mate's dad used to rock max 1's, lights, stabs, structures and pretty much every new nike running release-
finally got my first pair of nikes (not including doorstopped pairs-turquiose bw's in my size!!)- air tech challenge 3 (or 4) everyone seems confused but the one with the black nubuck toe and flame graphic on the heel. went on to swap these for some huaraches and a flight jacket- good deal.
after a few bargains- aj vi carmines for a pack of smokes- to which i stupidly blacked out the white leather- and were last seen being chewed by above 'mates' rottie about 15 years ago. and a few dodgy ones - air veer- anyone?- got over them and cut off the strap.
next shoe to blow me away and own was the footscape- which i loved but everyone of my mates paid out on. then a few max retros trickled into australia, then jordans, then the internet.
had first visit to london/europe/us in 2000 and upon returning home decided to move to london, in a quaint little village called brixton. loved rolling around soho/covent garden most weekends talking trash with all the retail boys/girls and finding out what was dropping, getting sneak peaks,etc. also heading up to cambden on sundays to ogle rare sh*t and drink mulled wine, getting the bus up the road to sports and things to be completely spun out by quantity and quality and always leaving a touch disappointed that the tag price/size was not necessarily set in stone! have some fond memories of london 'scene' but sadly all my favourite stores are gone -majorflavas/slammin kicks, mytrainers, sports and things, footpatrol.
being back in australia it is easier in some ways-asia exclusives, more difficult in others- not earning pound, same old same old.
just realised i'm dribbling a fair bit of sh*te so will head off.
oh and i painted 8x10inch canvassses of all my shoes (still got a couple to do!) and before you say anything i started painting sneakers before dave white!!!
i like to wear my shoes- some too much, some not enough.
