Nike - AIR MAX 90 CURRENT ND
Looking like some Photoshop madness on our first glance, if you felt slighted by the changes in both shape and colour of this street level perennial over the last 18 years (this design could legally drink on these shores) then you've probably made your mind up regarding the Air Max Current. For the record, we're definitely feeling this mix. While hurling numerous favourites to create a twisted sneaker Brundlefly isn't our thing, when the hybrid dabbling makes for a more comfortable ride we're down. Bob Kilgour's cult runner (and brethren to the Flow) the Air Current seems to be a key reference point, at least in title, but whereas that innovative creation worked with the neoprene forefoot that did fat plates of meat absolutely no favours, the extra inches of mesh on the AM90 Current's toebox that just keeps on sprawling feel more in line with a late 70's performance experiment like the Bermuda. Either way, it's a solid creation to nod to in the design. And like those Kilgour creations, the more elaborate paneling and visible technology is kept to the rear. With printed dot detailing and some interesting blasts of electric green, this is a very different take
