Nike - Air Footscape
A huge risk in terms of off-the-wall design, the release of the Footscape in 1995, as with the Rift, saw a shoe designed for a purpose (in this case, to be as ergonomic as possible) become bedfellows with pricey Japanese denim and costly combats. Hated by those who find the shape and lacing too unorthodox, but revered by those who've seen the light so to speak, by trying a pair on, the mighty Tory Orzeck's comfort creation, with its tactically placed Swoosh and careful use of materials, is still light years ahead of the competition. Imitated but never bettered (especially not by the horrendous sequel), the Footscape is a thing of way-out beauty. From the mesh down to the zinc panel this is a killer co.jp retro from the early '00s that's was hard to track down and one of the better retro colourways.
