Nike - Dunk High Pro SB - Stones Throw
After a CT team member expressed surprise that jazz fiend Madlib and helium voiced Quasimoto were one and the same, a pop cultural error only aced by an old school-friend being unaware of Stevie Wonder's vision impairment, it was a sign. We had to feature the ultra-limited (for around 25 of Otis Jackson Jr's buddies) Stones Throw SB Dunk. After seeing plenty of vitriol towards what's actually a throughly inoffensive product, with Lord Quas peeking out from the heel, it's got to be said that this is a fair side-project for the one-time 'Liks affiliate, though it's not going to generate enough excitement to incite an accidental Come On Feet incident from even the most ardent shoehead/chinstroker. Let's not beat around the bush here, 'Lib could drop his answerphone messages over an Acker Bilk chop-up and the Straight No Chaser kids would pay import prices for a Japan-only release of it. Madlib has never been the most audacious dresser and this muted shoe with its muddy shades of brown and blue and use of houndstooth, aged leather and wool effects is as evocative of America's most blunted as a crackling Oneness Of Juju loop. Rare. Very, very rare.
