Puma - Disc Blaze 80
An early '90's model gets an '80's rehaul. Those who remember the early ads, and the dawn of Disc, will recall plenty of designs being given the wind-up technology, from runners to ballers, some successful, others less so. With the far from subtle, but oddly tactile technology recently 'homaged' on North Face's self fastening footwear, it definitely deserves a mention - while it's bulky, it certainly did its job to some extent, visibly fastening the foot in place while rival midsole based Air-imitations of the era often did absolutely zip. Twinned with the equally eccentric visible river of Trinomic on the outsole, there's not much like this response to the Huarache, and with the contrast stitch, mesh, suede, patterned neoprene and patent, plus black, jade green and orange, it looks even more striking that ever before, while staying on the right side of wearable.
