A serious meeting of franchises, it's hard to fathom just how much impact adidas and Star Wars had on us growing up. For 2010, they've worked together on a capsule collection with startling attention-to-detail across some popular and slightly more esoteric models. The blister-style packaging brings back happy memories of tearing open Kenner toys to commence minature combat. Since the Micropacer system was first introduced in 1984 - the tiny digital display showing distance, and average pace amongst other things, this has remained a cult shoe since, and this reissue retains its appeal. To see such high technology fused with a traditional runner from the masters of minimal, clean design is an oddity. The Micropacer was certainly the talk of our playground, with few of us even seeing as much as a picture of the rumoured 'computer shoes'. Considering the high level of gimmickry at work, the actual system works well, and it's remarkably restrained in terms of design, making this eye-catching without looking ridiculous. Sadly, it's hard to concieve a manufacturer having the balls to put out a fresh concept like this 26 years after its inception, quality retros like these are generating a new breed of fans of this eccentric classic. This version's covered in a print of memorable moments from Lucas's space saga - numbers are limited, and this collection seems to have fanboys across-the-board clambering for at least one pair, so act fast.

I am moved to comment for the first time ever. This is the worst shoe I have ever seen - not just 'trainer'; worst 'shoe'. If I were an American I would use the word 'period' at this point in a sentence all on its own. The Star Wars Adidas ...
I am moved to comment for the first time ever. This is the worst shoe I have ever seen - not just 'trainer'; worst 'shoe'. If I were an American I would use the word 'period' at this point in a sentence all on its own. The Star Wars Adidas colabs have produced dubious shoes at best (as evidenced by the low demand we can infer from the price drops), but this example reaches a new nadir. What were they thinking?
