Twenty years back, at a point when compressed Air had us fiending, distracted from the clean simplicity of a ton of classic adidas, the Torsion system came and took what the brand did best - sleek runners, and added supportive gadgetry to turn the spotlight back for a minute or two. For that reason, the ZX 8000 takes us back, and we're inclined to think they've aged a lot better than the majority of their tech war rivals. A textbook example of adidas at a creative zenith, at a time when most performance designs lack the minerals and vitamins, irons and the Niacin to be a spark in the memory cells, let alone be fondly remembered two decades down the line, this '88 silhouette looks even more timeless than ever. Patent leather shouldn't work, but on this colourway it works well, and the essence of the shoe is retained.
